College, outside of the parties and the socializing that everyone does at least once with their buddies, those 4- 5 years were spent in the back rooms of libraries and doom rooms studying all night long to just pass a course. Along with that come the insurance and the security for the campuses and its students and staff; it is sad to keep talking about money when dealing the educational system, but that is how life is.
In this doom and gloom scenario comes the accredited online colleges of these same universities and many others. By creating and allowing students the option to not only attend these accredited online colleges and receive the same course as they would find in a physical class room, these universities are opening up their students to life in the future same future where borders are given way to the world community living together and studying together in cyber space. Teachers can now remain in their home countries such as Brazil and still be a full tenured professor at UCLA, A Student can now have a best friend who happens to be across town or across the world while taking the exact same courses and all of the course work is recognized and accepted throughout the educational community world-wide.
Yes college life is a time in which you not only grow and experience things for the first time in your life, but it is also the time open your mind and learn as you never did before. Accredited online colleges still allow you to do all of these things but you can do them now from home.
